The Operations Technology Technician role is responsible for undertaking preventative maintenance and providing technical field support for the mine site’s Operational Technology Systems. This position ensures that the Technology team can maintain system availability and drive technology enablement for all working processes of the mine. The role is a full time position working on a 7 / 7 roster, dayshift only, at Poitrel Mine.  

Based at our Poitrel mine operation, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team of Operational Technology Specialist Technicians on a 7/7 permanent roster.

Working within a small, highly capable team, you will have exposure to a broad range of Operational Technology (OT) systems supporting a modern open-cut mining operation. This role offers significant variety, with responsibilities spanning communications, networking, telemetry, radio systems, infrastructure and emerging mining technologies.

You will have significant prior experience in Information Technology, Operational Technology, Communications or Engineering Technology within a mining, industrial or heavy industry environment, supported by relevant trade or tertiary qualifications and industry certifications.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensure the reliability, availability and performance of site Operational Technology (OT) systems, including Digital Radio, Wireless Telemetry, CCTV, Network and Server Infrastructure.
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot Operational Technology systems including Wireless Telemetry Systems (WTS), CCTV Systems, Physical Access Management Systems, Digital Radio Networks and supporting IT/OT infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across communications, networking, radio, telemetry and electronic systems to minimise operational downtime.
  • Assist the Technology Superintendent and Supervisor in identifying and implementing initiatives that deliver value to the business while ensuring compliance with Change Management procedures.
  • Execute work orders in accordance with scheduled maintenance plans, work instructions and site standards.
  • Provide input into root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and system performance.
  • Support the delivery of technology projects and system upgrades across the operation as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records and asset information associated with site technology systems.

What you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification or Trade Certificate in Radio Communications, Telecommunications, Electronics & Communications, Auto Electrical, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Point-to-Point communications links, analogue and digital two-way radio systems.
  • Experience with communications, networking and electronic systems.
  • Experience with IP networking, switching, routing and wireless communications.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control and telemetry systems highly regarded.
  • Experience working within an Operational Technology (OT) environment.
  • Experience supporting critical operational infrastructure within mining, industrial or heavy industry environments.
  • Proven commitment to safety within an operational environment.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • Australian C Class Driver’s Licence.

Highly regarded:

  • Coal mining experience.
  • Experience using SAP / 1SAP.
  • ACMA Open or Unrestricted Cabling Licence.
  • EWP High Risk Work Licence.
  • Exposure to technologies such as Tait P25, Rajant, Cambium, Cisco, Gallagher,
