Our Isaac Plains Mine is a metallurgical coal mine owned and operated by Stanmore and located 20km's outside of Moranbah.  

We are seeking a Senior Mine Accountant to join our site team providing financial data and support to the Commercial Manager to ensure operational and financial performance of the mine site is transparent and accurately reported to enable considered and timely decisions. This position will be responsible for preparing and assisting with mine site financial deliverables and reporting including monthly actual results, forecasts, and annual budgets amongst other items.

Key Accountabilities or Activities

  • Support the Commercial Manager by providing financial data in relation to all mine site activities and drive financial awareness across the operation.
  • Ensure all financial and commercial information is prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards and Stanmore policies and procedures.
  • Run month end close process for the mine site and reconcile mine financial data to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare mine site account reconciliations.
  • Manage mine site financials within ERP systems and ensure data integrity is maintained to enable standardised reporting.
  • Provide site personnel with support and training in the ERP system.
  • Assist with the maintenance of effective cost control systems by providing support and analysis.
  • Provide regular reporting in relation to capital projects approvals, forecast and spending, including maintenance of the asset register.
  • Populate and maintain mine site forecast and budget reporting tools to ensure all identified risk are mitigated.
  • Compile and analyse the information necessary to assist in the budget and forecast processing (operating and capital).
  • Manage preparation and submission of various statistical returns.
  • Manage departmental cost reviews and assist in identification of cost saving initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives via identification and implementation of opportunities which support operational excellence and drive measurable EBIT improvement.
  • Assist in the review of monthly contractor payment claims.
  • Monitor and assist with site purchase requisitions, purchase orders and contracts as required.
  • Other duties as directed by the Commercial Manager.

 

Position Required Capabilities

Experience: 5+ Years proven mining experience, ideallying including site-based finance, commercial or management accounting roles.  Knowledge and experience of site procurement process will be adventageous.  SAP S4 Hana & SAP Analytics Cloud experience advantageous.

Other: Collaborative and dynamic style demonstrated with excellent working relationship with site and corporate office peers.

Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences

  • Formal qualification in accoutning or business prefereable
  • CA or CPA
