Job Description
Reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager, the Principal Mining Engineer will play an integral role in the operations short to medium term success. The role is accountable for development, implementation and governance of mine design and short / medium term scheduling activities. As technical expert in designing and scheduling part of the role is to help improve technical systems and processes on site. The role will work closely with site operations, technical teams and also align with the long term planning at corporate office.
In this role you will:
- Run short to mid-term scenarios, including
- Optimise haulage strategies for advancing strips
- Develop and maintain site scheduling model for option analysis
- Identify and mitigate plan risks, minimising production disruption
- Work with the operations teams to ensure short term alignment to long term strategy
- Have the opportunity to grow professionally and step or across into leadership positions
As the successful applicant you will have:
- Experience in working in large open pit mining operations
- A commitment to safety and continuous improvement, including process improvement
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mining or Civil) or equivalent
- Understanding of value drivers in large open pit mining operations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence a range of internal and external stakeholders
